Obituary of Ruthanne Tanner

Ruthanne Tanner, 77, of Beach Park, IL formerly of Gurnee, IL passed away peacefully with her children by her side on April 24, 2015 at the Victory Lakes facility in Lindenhurst, IL. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Ruthanne was born in Birmingham Alabama in 1937. She married Neal Tanner on February 28, 1959 at the First Congregational Church in Waukegan, IL. Neal and Ruthanne were both employed in the banking business for many years, Neal at North Shore Trust and Savings and Ruthanne at American National Bank in Waukegan. To enjoy their retirement in a warmer climate the couple moved to Las Vegas, NV where they loved to take drives in their convertible car through the Red Rock Canyon and of course, an occasional visit to the casinos. Unfortunately health issues brought them back to Illinois to be where their children could help care for them. Survivors include her three sons, Tim (Ruth), Mark (Linda), and Patrick (Joni); nine grandchildren; and six great-granchildren. Ruthanne was preceded in death by her loving husband of 49 years, Neal in 2008 and her parents Frank and Glyndon "Babe" Larsen. A visitation will be held Tuesday, April 28, 2015 from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion, IL. Private interment will take place at Northshore Garden of Memories, North Chicago, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to the Newport Township Fire Protection District, 39010 Caroline St., Wadsworth, IL 60083.
