Obituary of Elizabeth Haines

Elizabeth “Betty” Haines, 77, of Zion, IL, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 31, 2015, with her family by her side. Betty was born August 10, 1938, in Libertyville , IL and was a 1956 graduate of Zion-Benton Township High School. She was a member of Our Lady of Humility Church in Beach Park. Betty was an avid quilter who was socially active with old and new friends. She enjoyed any type of travel and also wintering in sunny Arizona with her late husband, Jerry. Survivors include four children, Christina Haines of Phoenix, AZ, and Lance Haines, Mark (Laronda) Haines, and Philip Haines, all of Winthrop Harbor, IL; four grandchildren, Christy (Ilian) Stefanov, Tesa Haines. Mitchell Haines, and Harley Haines; four great-grandchildren, Taylor Latza, Ava Latza, Ashley Latza, and Sophia Stefanov; sister, Margie Regal of Winthrop Harbor, IL; brother-in-law, Dave (Pat) Haines; and many nieces and nephews and other family. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Jerry; brothers, Joe and George Hoffman; and parents, Edward and Anna Hoffman. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, September 8, 2015, at 6:00 p.m. at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion, IL. Friends may greet the family on Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
