Obituary of William Lee Capp

William Lee “Bill” Capp, 88, of Beach Park, IL, formerly of Zion, IL, went to be with his Lord Jesus on Monday, September 21, 2015, at Rolling Hills Manor, Zion, IL. Bill was born December 17, 1926, in Zion, IL, and graduated from Zion-Benton Township High School in 1944. He served with the United States Navy during World War II aboard the USS Henry Tucker and graduated from the University of Illinois. Bill married his late wife, Carol Joy Noteboom, on August 26, 1949, and his current wife, Joellyn Suttie-Knepper on February 9, 2013. He was an active member of Christ Community Church where he served as an Elder, volunteered with the Camp Zion Ministry of the church, and acted in the Zion Passion Play. Bill was passionate about his faith in the Lord Jesus and had a deep love for his church and church family. Bill retired from OMC in Waukegan and also worked for the Savings and Loan in Zion. He also served on the Zion Elementary School Board, was an avid golfer, and coached little league baseball. Survivors include his wife, Joellyn “Joie”; children, Peter Lawrence “Larry” (Barbara) Capp of Miami, FL, William (Jill) Capp of VA, Randolph (Nancy) Capp of Cairo, Egypt, Linda Joy (Steven) Anderson of Fairbury, IL, Timothy (Karen) Capp of Oveido, FL, and James Allen “Jack” (Holly) Capp, of McDonough, GA; 15 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; brother, Arthur “Ollie” (Patricia) Capp of Beach Park, IL; sister, Shirley (Edward) Spacapan of Arlington Heights, IL; many nieces and nephews and other family. He was preceded in death by his wife Carol, in 2011, and parents, Arthur and Iva Capp. A Memorial Service will be held Monday, September 28, 2015, at 10:00 a.m. at Christ Community Church, 2500 Dowie Memorial Dr., Zion, IL, with Pastor Ken Langley, officiating. Private interment will be held at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion, IL. Memorial donations are suggested to Christ Community Church.
