Obituary of Stuart Allen McCreary

June 22, 1937-April 20, 2016 Stuart Allen McCreary, the son of Stuart Nelson and Alice Marie McCreary nee Dumbald was born in Rush Tower (rural Festus), MO and died at his home in Zion, IL. After graduating from St. Louis Christian College, Allen ministered at churches in Higdon, MO, Zion, IL, Belle, MO and was chaplain at Meadowmere Assisted Living in Kenosha, WI. In 1960, Allen moved to Zion and became involved in various organizations and civil groups. He was Manager of the Zion Chamber of Commerce, owner/operator of Joe Mole Shoe Repair, Vice President of Sales for Valeer Industries, and was a self-employed salesman. Allen was an avid reader and enjoyed studying and learning his whole life. He bowled on several leagues, but his passion was golf. He was part of the Good Fellowship League (now the Monday night league) through the Shiloh Golf Course for over 35 years. Allen is survived by his wife, Virginia; seven children, Stuart Ross (Renee), Suzanne Marie (Van) Vuyovich, Paula Joy, Mary Ann (Scott) Tufts, Sandra Jean (Barry) Lamb, Deborah Lynn (Dan) Gillies, and Melissa Ruth (Keith) Richards; four brothers, Stanley, Mike, Dennis, Tim; 23 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and a very large extended family. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Gail Audrey nee Baker, daughter, Pamela Gail, brother, Neal Patrick, and his parents Stuart Nelson and Alice Marie McCreary. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 23, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at North Point Church, 900 Lewis Ave., Winthrop Harbor, IL. Flowers can be sent to the church. Allen will be laid to rest during a private service at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion.
