Obituary of Mary J. Martin

Mary J. Martin (nee Japuncich), 91, formerly of Waukegan, IL died on Saturday, September 17, 2016 at Aurora Medical Center in Pleasant Prairie, WI. Mary was born June 27, 1925 in North Chicago, IL. She grew up in North Chicago and lived most of her life in Waukegan. She was employed at the Montgomery Wards store in Waukegan. She was also a member of Croatian Federation. Mary enjoyed cooking but most all she loved being with her family. Survivors include her three sons George M. (Sally) Martin of TX, Tom J. Martin of Winthrop Harbor, IL, and James M. (Kim Bruns) Martin of Winthrop Harbor, IL; four grandchildren Nicole (John) Ahn of South Korea, George Martin of TX, Michael Martin of IL, and James (Mandy) Bluma of IN; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband George in 2012; and her parents Mile and Anna Japuncich. Visitation will be Wednesday, September 21, 2016, from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion. A procession to Ascension Cemetery in Libertyville, IL will leave at 11:00 a.m. for a cemetery service there. In lieu of flowers memorial donations to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society has been suggested.
