Obituary of Robert L. Grazier

Robert L. “Bob” Grazier, of Wadsworth, IL died at home on Friday, October 21, 2016 with his loving family by his side. He was born on December 2, 1930 on his parents farm in Millheim, PA. He attended Miles Twp Schools, graduating in May of 1948. After graduation, he joined the US Army Air Force. He completed basic training in Texas, then was assigned to Chanute Air Force Base in Rantoul, IL. Other assignments were Westover Air Force Base in Massachusetts, Hickam Air Force Base in Hawaii. He was an aircraft engine mechanic. On September 8, 1951 he married Mary Ann Tiernan in Holy Rosary Church in North Chicago, IL. They moved to Massachusetts where Bob was stationed and lived there for 2 years. Moving back to Illinois, Bob worked for Com Ed for a short time. He then owned and operated his own trucking business for a few years after which he was employed by Dan Lodesky Trucking as a Diesel Mechanic for many years, retiring in March of 1993. Bob was very creative, customizing tanks, trailers, building a motor home, and many other things related to the trucking industry. He was very proud of the flower boxes he built as well as the garden he kept. Driving his Kubota tractors gave him so much pleasure. Bob belonged to Our Lady of Humility Catholic Church, the Lake County Radio Control Club and Teamsters Local 301. Bob is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Mary Ann (Tiernan) Grazier; his children, Kenneth (Diane) Grazier, Thomas (Susan) Grazier, Dianne (Gerald) Richardson; daughter in law, Heather (the late Jim) Grazier; grandchildren, Jeremy (Laura) Grazier, Jennifer (Dan) Resch, Robert J. (Sharon) Grazier, Christopher (Stephanie) Grazier, Rebecca Grazier, Michelle (Justin) Dosser, Amanda (Justin) Thompson, Matthew Richardson, Adam Grazier, Alec Grazier, Danielle Grazier; great grandchildren. Isaac Resch, Abigail Grazier, Audrey Grazier, Alison Grazier; brothers, David (Connie) Grazier, of Millheim, PA, Edwin (Rhena) Grazier of Stewartville, MN; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his two loving sons, Barry J. Grazier and James R. Grazier; his parents Russell P. Grazier and Bertha Grazier; his brother Don Grazier; and his in laws Frank and Clara Tiernan. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Humility Church, 10655 W. Wadsworth Road, Zion, IL. Interment will follow at Ascension Cemetery, Libertyville, IL. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 25, 2016 from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion, IL.
