Obituary of Ralph Heaven Sr.

Ralph Frank Heaven, Sr. passed away peacefully, February 4, 2017 at the age of 81. Ralph was born to Cecil (Tom) and Dorothy Heaven on April 10, 1935, in Waukegan. As a young man, Ralph worked for the Porett Brothers, selling and delivering newspapers. Ralph started his career in Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning working with his father in their family business, “Heaven and Son Heating.” Ralph continued his HVAC career working at the Sheraton Inn for 25 years and then another 25 years working in the Maintenance Department at Six Flags Great America. Ralph also was a volunteer fireman in his younger years. He worked two jobs most of his life, many may remember Ralph tending bar at the Moose Lodge, the Sheraton Inn and Green Brier Restaurant.

Ralph married Helen (Coon) Heaven, April 21, 1956 and raised 5 children, prior to Helen’s death in 2005. Ralph is survived by his 2 daughters, Laura (Kermit) Heaven-Ewell, Lisa (Joseph) Heaven-Baum, and 3 sons Ralph (Jill) Heaven Jr, Michael (Cynthia) Heaven and Andrew (Deedee) Heaven. Ralph has 8 grandchildren; Rachel, Amanda, Christine, Geoffrey, Alyssa, Jonathan, Justin, Alyssalynn and Andrew. He also had 5 great grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Avery, Penelope, Chelsilynn and Michael.

Ralph married and is survived by his second wife Margaret (O’Connell) Heaven. They shared a love for traveling including spending their winters in Florida and cheering on the Chicago Cubs.

Ralph was a lifetime Legionnaire member of the Loyal Order of the Moose. Donations may be made in Ralph’s memory to Mooseheart. Moosecharities.org.

Ralph is also survived by his sister, Mary Alice McPherson, and nephew, Charles Logsdon. Ralph was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Dorothy Heaven, his brother, Raymond Heaven and nephew Kenneth Logsdon.

Funeral Mass will take place Saturday, February 11, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Humility Church, 10655 W Wadsworth Rd, Zion, IL. Friends may greet the family from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at the church.
