Obituary of Tina Lynn Slis

Tina Lynn Slis, Age 46, of Gurnee, Il unexpectedly but peacefully, departed this life on Saturday, March 25, 2017. She was born on June 22, 1970 in Waukegan, IL. Her greatest life accomplishment was becoming a Mom. She was a National Board Certified Teacher and earned a M.Ed (Master in Education) in Curriculum and Instruction. For the majority of her life, she worked as a Photographic Design Instructor at Lake County High Schools Technology Campus. She also volunteered for Catholic Charities family self sufficiency program. Tina was a loving Mother, Daughter, Sister, and Aunt. What she loved most was spending time with her family and pets. Tina’s interests included the art of photography, her Native American (Ojibwa) culture, and soap & jewelry making. She is survived by her Daughter, Kismet Slis-Charles, Mother, Karen E. Hogan, Sister, Kimberley Slis, Niece & Nephew, Asia Cole & Isaiah Cole and a host of Aunts, Cousins, and Friends. She was preceded in death by her Father, George (Sonny) Slis, Maternal Grandparents, Wallace (Tic) & Elma Taylor, and Uncles: Jim, Joe Deane, Mike, Bob, and David (Pickles). Memorial services will be held Friday, April 14, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Community Christian Church of Lake County, 1400 W. Yorkhouse Rd., Waukegan, IL. A repass gathering in honor of Tina’s life and accomplishments will immediately proceed the memorial.
