Obituary of Etta C Turunen

Etta ‘Char” Turunen, 68, of Beach Park, IL passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side after a long and courageous battle with ovarian cancer on Tuesday, August 8, 2017.

Char was born March 30, 1949 in Falfurrias, TX.  In 1970, she married Dwain Turunen in Corpus Cristi, TX.  She attended Trinity United Lutheran Church in Waukegan, IL, and was a member of Rachel’s Circle and WELCA.  

Survivors include her husband, Dwain; daughters, Sheila (James Baxter) Turunen and Alyssa (Christopher Krygowski) Turunen; grandchildren, Brandon, Hunter, Cali, Logan, Haily, Skylar, Lucas and Christopher Jr; niece, Dana Baker; mother in law, Erma Turunen; sister in laws, Kris (Rick) Conaway and Sue (Steve) Bolton; and several nieces and loved ones.

She was preceded in death by parents, Uncle Byron and Aunt Ella Andrews; sister, Judy Burgess and father in law, Otto Turunen.

The family would like to thank Vista Hospice, especially Jasmine, Vicky and Minnie.

A memorial visitation will be held Saturday, August 12, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 12:00 p.m. at Trinity United Lutheran Church, 658 Grand Ave., Waukegan, IL 60085.
