Obituary of Olga Alvarez

Olga Alvarez, 72, of Zion, IL died August 7, 2017 at home with her family by her side.

She was born November 6, 1944 in San Benito, TX. She married Benigno Alvarez on June 6, 1975 in Waukegan. Together, they owned Alvarez Grand Liquor and Grand Slam in Waukegan for 17 years until selling the business. In her free time, Olga enjoyed playing bingo and gambling. She was also a Chicago Cubs, Bears and Dallas Cowboys fan.

Survivors include her husband, Benigno; children, Isidro (Anges Mendoza) Valdez, Juan (Rita Martinez) Peña, Diana Alvarez, Benigno Alvarez II, and Jose (Rudy Gonzalez) Alvarez; grandchildren, Jennifer (Alberto Rivera) Valdez, Michael Peña, Pedro Martinez, Benigno Alvarez III, Raymond Garza, Jazmine Denali Alvarez, and Mia Ferrari Alvarez; great-grandchildren, Annabelle, Savannah, and Brandon Rivera; siblings, Manuel (Juanita) Gonzalez, David (Carlotta) Gonzalez, Lydia (Ramon) Rios), Raul (Pamela) Padron, Delia (Frank) Lopez, and Irma Padron; cousins, Hortencia Cervantes, Hilda Lopez, Norma Lopez, and Hilda (Miguel) Gomez; mother in law, Raphaela Morena Alvarez and many more extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Olga Quintanilla; sister, Gloria Martinez; nephew, Robert Padron; niece, Sheila Padron; great-nephew, Tristan Padron; cousin, Yolanda Roa; father-in-law, Antonio Alvarez Sanchez; and close friend, Corina Zamora.

A visitation will take place Tuesday, August 15, 2017 from 9:00 until 10:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception, 508 Grand Ave, Waukegan, IL. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00 a.m. Interment will take place at Ascension Cemetery, Libertyville, IL.
