Obituary of Orville Wayne Childers

Orville Wayne Childers, 81, of Waukegan, IL, passed away August 18, 2017 at the V.A. James A. Lovell Health Care facility of North Chicago, IL, surrounded by family, staff and volunteers.  A special thank you to Dr. Berman.

Loving husband to Norma Jensen, married in Oahu, HI, for 25 years.  Father of Steven Childers, Klause Hackman, Jodi Anderson and Richard W. (Amy) Jensen.  Grandchildren Jennifer Demo, Sarah Anderson, and the Hackman grandchildren of Arizona.  Great-grandchildren, Kai Demo, Lily and Olivia Vandervere.  One sister and brother from AR, and two brothers from KS.

Wayne was a retired Army Veteran of 25 years.  Retired communication managment specialist with the civil service of 15 years.  Wayne and Norma traveled the country and abroad.

Wayne enjoyed engaging in several organizations.  Mason of 33rd degree, Blue Lodge Master, Shriner.  Member of the VFW and cooties of Waukegan, the Waukegan Little Fort Lions, Lake County Crime Stoppers, Volunteered for Vista Health Hospital.  He was an acting Lay Leader of First United Methodist Church of Waukegan and Wainae Methodist Church of Oahu, HI.

Wayne was preceded in death by parents Verline and Kewin Childers, and daughter Karen Childers.

Memorial service will be held on Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at the First United Methodist Church, 128 N Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, Waukegan. Visitation from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. with a memorial service at 11:00 a.m, with Rev. Donna Atkinson, officiating.  Interment will take place at Ft. Sheridan Post Cemetery at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, donations to the First United Methodist Church would be appreciated.
