Obituary of Janice Carol Brooks


Janice Carol Brooks (neé Switzer), 74, of Wadsworth, IL, went to be with her Lord on November 10, 2017.
Janice was born June 18, 1943 in Clinton, IA then was a life-long resident of Lake County, IL.  She graduated from Waukegan High School with the class of 1961, she attended North Park College, University of Louisville, and was a graduate of Barat College in Lake Forest, IL.  Janice married James Brooks in 1963, together they raised four children.  She was a member of Immanuel Church in Gurnee where she was active in many rolls, her favorite being “Granny B” at MOPS.  Janice was a regional speaker for the Christian Women’s Club.  She worked alongside her husband for many years in his company, Brooks Builders, Inc.  Janice enjoyed entertaining at home and had a genuine gift of hospitality.
Janice cherished her family and is survived by her husband of 54 years, James; children, Theodore (Gretchen) Brooks, Robert (Michelle) Brooks, Christopher (Mary) Brooks, and Heather (Jonathan) Welsch; grandchildren, Alexis (Gaston) Griffin, Nicholas Modas, Ashton Hoselton, Connor Brooks; Jackson, Madeline and Bethany Brooks; Tyler (Hallie) and Cassidy Brooks; Brooks, Colby and Calvin Welsch; brother, John (Kathy) Switzer and sister-in-law, Betty Switzer.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother, David and Francis Switzer, step-mother Carolyn Dryer Switzer and a brother Thomas Switzer.
A visitation will take place on Sunday, November 19, 2017 from 2-5 PM at Immanuel Church, 2300 N Dilleys Road, Gurnee.  A visitation will also be held on Monday, November 20, 2017 from 9-10 AM at the church.  Funeral service will follow at 10 AM on Monday at the church.  Private burial will take place on Tuesday for the family.  In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Mind The Gap Campaign at Immanuel Church Gurnee or Loving InDeed with a memo for the Abba House, 39802 N Long Drive, Antioch, IL 60002.
