Obituary of Helen Dillow

Helen Dillow, 74, of Winthrop Harbor, IL, passed away while surrounded by her family on December 13, 2017, at Vista Medical Center in Waukegan, IL.

Helen was born January 1, 1943 in Crystal Falls, MI. She was a Yooper born 100% Fin-lander.  She moved to Waukegan, Il following the marriage to Earl Dillow Jr., the love of her life, in 1961. They married on Feb 4, 1961 and have lived in the Waukegan and the Winthrop Harbor area since. Helen worked at Cherry Electric as a Production Control Specialist for 28 years and retired. She loved gardening, the Chicago Bears, decorating, cooking for holidays, her cats and spending time with her family.

Helen is survived by her husband Earl of nearly 57 years, she was always a supportive and devoted wife to his passion of dog training/performance events across the Midwest and Canada. Her children who she considered her best friends are her daughter Corrine (Pete) Clavey of Pleasant Prairie; son Earl (Terrie) Dillow of Somers WI; son Larry  (Tammy) Dillow of Pleasant Prairie, WI; grandchildren Jason, Nikki, Andrew, and Nathan Dillow; and great-grandchildren Mathew, Dillow, Breanna, Brooke, Braelyn, and Pfeiffer.  Helen was preceded in death by her brother Leonard Matson; parents Waino and Martha Matson and a very close (special) cousin Ray Matson. She is survived by two sisters Millie Moeser of Flagstaff Arizona and Vio Aho of Crystal Falls Michigan as well as nieces and nephews. 

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 19, 2017 from 9:00 until 11:00 a.m. at the Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion, IL.  A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.  Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion.  Please wear blue jeans.
