Rev. Emily Amelia Reiman, 89, of Zion, IL died on Saturday, November 17, 2012, at Grove At The Lake in Zion.
She was born December 15, 1922 in Milwaukee, WI. She attended a practical nursing course in Milwaukee, graduated from Open Bible College in Des Moines, IA, and studied at Moody Bible Institute in Chicago. Emily worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse in Milwaukee for a few years and in 1959 she was called to Kenya, East Africa where she opened dispensaries, taught Bible, and ran a Good News reading room evangelizing young people. She was a member of Zion Faith Homes. She held an associate membership with IPCC (International Pentecostal Church of Christ), was a licensed minister with Assemblies of God, and was an associate of Zion Faith Homes.
Survivors include her foster son Jimmy Baraza, whom she raised in Kenya; one brother Rolf (Helen) Reiman of Waupaca, WI; one nephew Greg (Patty) Reiman of Whitefish Bay, WI; one niece Debbie (Don) Hardey of Seattle, WA: and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by one brother Thomas Reiman; and her parents Marie and Bruno Reiman.
Visitation will be Wednesday, November 21, 2012, from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m., Pastor David Leopold officiating. Interment will be held the following week at Wisconsin Memorial Park, Milwaukee. Memorial donations to Zion Faith Homes, 2820 Eshcol Avenue, Zion, IL in her memory have been suggested.
