Agnes Johnson

Agnes Johnson, 88, of Zion, IL passed away on Sunday, October 8, 2017, surrounded by her family.

She was born March 16, 1929 in Memphis, TN.  Agnes was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother (G.G.).  She considered her family one of the greatest accomplishments in her life.  Agnes always loved helping people and never hesitated to lend a helping hand.  She volunteered at the Holy Family Soup Kitchen, OLH food pantry and also delivered meals on wheels.  One of her greatest passions was quilting.  She was a member of Southport Quilt guild.  Agnes enjoyed being a member of the Zion QueenBees Red Hat group and the OLH Red Hat group.

Agnes married John on April 20, 1947 in Memphis and followed him throughout his 25+ years in the Navy around the globe.  John and Agnes were active members of the Fleet Reserve Association BR53.  Agnes loved to travel and even enjoyed just getting in a car and driving to see new sights.

She was preceded in death by her husband Everett “John” Johnson; her parents, Joe and Bertha Hader; brothers Joe and William; sisters, Edith, Priscilla, Florence, Elizabeth and Helen; and sons-in-law, Norman Radke and Kenneth Hauri.

Agnes is survived by her daughters, Sherlyn Schultz Radke Hauri, and Jacquelyn Videlka; 5 grandchildren, Roger Schultz, Joelle Radke, Andrew Videlka, Lori (Ed) Eidson and Jay (Jen) Videlka; 4 great-grandchildren, Bradley Eidson, Laney Videlka, Taylor Eidson, Austin Videlka; and a special little friend, Jaxon.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, October 14, 2017 from 9:00 until 11:30 a.m. at the Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion, IL.  Funeral service will follow at 11:30 a.m. with Father James Merold, officiating.  Interment will follow at Highland Memorial Park, Libertyville, IL.  In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Our Lady of Humility Bereavement Committee in Agnes’ memory.
