Alice Draudt Rhode, 87, of Martinez, Georgia, formerly of Zion, died on January 31, 2007 at her daughters home in Georgia and following a long illness.
Alice was born December 13, 1919 in Zion. She married Frank Rhode of Winthrop Harbor and together they lived in Martinez, Georgia for the past 50 years. He preceded her in death in July 2000 after 65 years of marriage. She was a former member of League of Women Voter's, March of Dimes Foundation, and Cub Scouts of America. While living in Zion she was employed at Johns-Manville Corporation in Waukegan. She was a long time member of Marvin United Methodist Church in Martinez, Georgia. Alice was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister.
Survivors include one son Daniel Rhode of Augusta, Georgia; one daughter Barbara (Ted) Stripling of Martinez, Georgia; two grandson's Christopher Stripling and Jason Stripling both of Martinez; one granddaughter Jessica (Adam) Barnes of Hephzibah, Georgia; three great-grandchildren Bailey Stripling, Ethan Barnes and Alex Barnes; her sister Lillian Lechwar of Zion; a sister-in-law Anna Draudt of Wisconsin; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Frank; sister Jessie Anderson; brother Lawrence Draudt; parents Fred and Blanche Draudt.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 6, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion.
