Claude E. Pounders, 65, of Zion, Illinois, died on Wednesday, September 19, 2007 at Condell Hospital in Libertyville, Illinois.
Claude was born January 27, 1942 in Dennis, Mississippi and moved to Zion after High School in Mississippi. He worked as a carpenter in this area and he was a member of the Zion-Benton Moose. He enjoyed walking at Gurnee Mills and was an avid Green Bay Packer fan and St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan.
Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Barbara; two sons Jon (Michelle) Pounders of Kenosha, Wisconsin and Scott Pounders of Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin; two grandchildren Alex Peetz and Kiley Pounders; and three sisters Gladys Lindley, Sandra (Royce) Hopkins and Patsy (Billy Roy) Harris all of Dennis, Mississippi.
He was preceded in death by one brother Eddie Pounders; one sister Ellen Suddeth; and his parents Raymond and Emmie Pounders.
Visitation will be Friday, September 21, 2007, from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 22nd, at 10:30 a.m. at the Congdon Funeral Home with Dr. Michael Brown of First Baptist Church of Winthrop Harbor officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion.
