Daniel T. Verenski, of Zion, IL passed away on March 1, 2020. Dan was born April 9, 1948. He lived his childhood years through his graduation from North Chicago High School and some years after in North Chicago. He moved to Zion where he lived more than 40 years. In Zion, he and his wife Nancy, owned and operated Verenski Dental Laboratory for over 30 years. Dan was a true craftsman. His dentist clients highly praised his work and prized his friendship. An avid fisherman and golfer, he had great fun and patience teaching these sporting skills to others. Even though Dan and his sister Bernadine lived far away from each other, they had a very close relationship. They tried to talk on the phone almost every day. As his good friend Billy says, “the first time I met Dan, in five minutes I felt like I’d known him for years.” Dan could instantly charm you with kindness and sincere interest in what you had to say. That ability to connect with people extended into the animal kingdom. His dogs Gilder, Jake and Simba stuck to him like glue, and that “glue” was mutual love. Nicknamed “Mr. Fix-It” by his wife, Dan would drop everything to help anyone who needed help. Skilled at wood and metal-working, he would save the day for many people.
Dan is survived by his wife, Nancy, his sister, Bernadine Aldwinckle and her husband Herb, his nephew Debito Arudou, his aunt Jean Kula, many cousins in Illinois, Wisconsin and throughout the country, and his dear friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents Daniel and Mary Verenski.
