Doyal Gay Brown went home to be with the Lord peacefully on December 12, 2020. She was born March 26, 1932 in Elton, WI to Vernon and Mahala Townsend. She married her first love and favorite guy, Harold E. Brown, who preceded her in death in 2017.
Gay was an amazing, compassionate and tender hearted woman of God. She had an unceasing love and fear of God which resulted in a life dedicated to serving the Lord. Gay’s love for God was channeled through church planting, discipleship making and her authentic ability to love people everywhere. A saying often quoted by Gay was, “I’d rather see a sermon than to hear one, any ole day.” Not only did Gay quote this often, she lived it daily; her life was a God-centered sermon.
Gay is survived by her children, Blane D. Brown, Terry D. Congdon and Steven (Karen) Brown; grandchildren, Heather (Brandon) Japuntich, Logan Congdon, Jennifer (Jeff) Carrier, Deanna Brown, Katie Brown, Ashley Brown, Kyle Brown, Josh (Jazi) Brown and Jacob Brown; and 4 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold E. Brown; son, Barry C. Brown; and mother and father, Vernon and Mahala Townsend.
Services will be private for the family.
