Eric S. Ford, 58, of Winthrop Harbor, died on Tuesday, July 10, 2007, at home. Eric was born January 31, 1949, in Waukegan, IL, and was a 1967 graduate of Zion-Benton Township High School. He married Teresa Mink on June 7, 1975 in Zion. Eric retired from the Outboard Marine Corporation in 1999 after 33 years, working as a journeyman machine repairman. After retirement he was employed by the North Point Marina in Winthrop Harbor. Eric served in the United States Marine Corps from 1968-1972 and received a Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and a Rifle Sharpshooter Badge. He was an avid hunter, trap shooter, and fisherman. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Teresa; son, Vern (Maggie) Ford of Ingleside, IL; sister, Erin (Gary) Turner of Zion, IL; brother, Greg Ford of TN; nephews, Jody, Austin, Daniel, and Gavin; nieces, Diana and Melissa; brother-in-law, James (Sandy) Mink of Winthrop Harbor, IL; sister-in-law, Renae (Cuco) Figueroa of Winthrop Harbor, IL; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Charles and Shirley Mink of Zion, IL. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Merle and Gene Ford. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, July 16, 2007, at 10:00 a.m.,at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd, Zion. Interment will follow at Pineview Memorial Park, Beach Park. Visitation will be Sunday, July 15, 2007, from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to the National Rifle Association.
