Harley “Joe” Garvin, 74, of Zion, IL went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at Vista Medical Center East in Waukegan.
He was born August 7, 1940 in Booneville, MS. He grew up in Kenosha, WI and attended Kenosha Schools. He attended The Well Church of Kenosha. Joe retired from OMC in Waukegan, IL.
Survivors include his daughters Sheila (Rob) Tanner of Buffalo Grove, IL, Debra Garvin of Zion, IL and Jennifer (Gus) Phillips of Zion, IL; six grandchildren Heather (Shawn), Joe, Anthony (DoryAnn), Nicole, Lexi, and Sebastian; and four great-grandchildren Madison, Jaylen, Alexa, and Joshua. The family wishes to thank an unexpected angel at the right time in their lives, Nancy Pye.
He was preceded in death by his wife Arlene in 1994, whom he married on June 19, 1965 in Kenosha; his parents Clovis and Grace Garvin; and three brothers and one sister.
Visitation will be Monday, January 19, 2015, from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion. A funeral service will follow at 7:00 p.m., Pastor Dan Stanford of The Well Church officiating. Private interment will be held later at Pineview Memorial Park, Beach Park, IL.
