Chief Petty Officer James M. Stilp, USN (Ret.) 78, of Beach Park, IL passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 17, 2022 in Kenosha, WI.
James was born April 21, 1943 in Indiana. On April 21, 1965 he married the love of his life, Judith Larsen, at Naval Station Treasure Island in San Francisco, CA. He was employed with Roquette America as the Maintenance Manager for over 20 years. James loved bowling, fishing and watching sporting events, especially the Green Bay Packers and Chicago Cubs. He also enjoyed watching all genres of movies and had quite an impressive collection. Most of all, James loved his family and time spent with his children and grandchildren.
James proudly served his country in the United States Navy, retiring from Great Lakes Naval Station after 27 years of faithful service.
James is survived by his children, Charles Stilp, Jeffrey (Eryn) Stilp, Tamara (Robert Wright) Ramos and Pamela (Drew) Greenwald; grandchildren, Jessica, Kristy, Scott, Nick, Tyler, Andy, Christopher, Brandon, Lucy, Geddy, Haley, Nydia, Juan, Christopher ‘CJ’, Elliana, Michael and Connor; and 5 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 54 years, Judith; son, Michael Stilp; and parents, Frank and Dorothy Stilp.
Memorial Visitation will be held Friday, March 25, 2022 at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion, IL 60099 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. Memorial Service will begin at 6:30 p.m.
