Linda Sue Stickles

1944 — November 30, 2021

Linda Sue Stickles (nee Spiller) gained her angel wings on November 30, 2021. Sue was born at home in Winfield, Alabama to Virgil and Jewel Dean Spiller on March 14, 1944. In 1960 she moved with her family to Waukegan, IL. She wasn’t in Illinois long before meeting the love of her life. Later that year they eloped and were married in Alabama. As she moved to her heavenly home she left behind her husband of 61 years, James K Stickles. Sue was a member of (Northpoint) The Point church in Winthrop Harbor from the very start of the church. She adored, and was adored, by her church family. You always knew when Sue was in the congregation because she just couldn’t resist the urge to give out a big ‘AMEN’ when she felt the spirit move. It was her passion to serve others that led her to serve at the Giving Point Food Pantry and on the funeral service ministry for many years. She is survived by her husband, James K. Stickles, her three sisters Mary (Toni) Spiller-Dady of Cave City, KY, Patricia (Phil) Varner of Winthrop Harbor, and Roxanne Swindle of Zion. She was Nana to her grandkids; Christine (Terrell) Bankston, Bryce (Neesha) Miller, Amanda Miller, Brandon (Jesse) Brown, Ashley Stickles-Martin, and Jami Stickles. Her great-grand children McKinley, Zachary, JaVonte, Bryce Jr, JaNeece, Nevaeh, Atreyu, Chloe, Jason, Halyi, and Mini were her pride and joy. She also has 2 great-great grandchildren as well! She was Nana Sue to more children than we could ever list and loved them all! In heaven she will be greeted by her loving savior Jesus Christ, her parents Virgil and Jewel Dean Spiller; her son James M. (Ken) Stickles, her daughter Ruth (Tammy) Miller, brother-in-laws Kevin Swindle, Tom Stickles, Jack Stickles and many more friends and family. A memorial service will be held at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion, IL on Friday, December 10th, 2021. Visitation from 3:00 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. and funeral service at 5:30 p.m. If there is one thing Sue would want everyone to know, it is that ‘For God so loved the world (that’s you!) that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever (you again!) believes in Him shall not parish, but have everlasting life (…just like Nana Sue does) John 3:16.
