Lloyd E. DeTienne Jr., “Sonny”, 84, of Zion, IL passed away peacefully on August 26, 2019 with his family by his side.
Lloyd was born October 19, 1934 in Zion, IL, the oldest child of Lloyd and Eileen (Bure) DeTienne. He graduated from Zion-Benton Township High School and went on to the FBI Academy in Quantico, VA graduating 1st in his class. Lloyd came back to Zion and lead a life dedicated to his family, his faith, and the City of Zion. He married Sally Su Cook in 1953 and together they raised four children. He began his career in law enforcement as a police officer and worked his way to Chief of Police. Lloyd served as city alderman for 5 terms. It was well known that he was available at “his office”, It’s All Good coffee shop every day at 10:00 a.m. Lloyd was also a faithful member of Trinity Christian Center in Zion.
Lloyd is survived by his children, Teri (Scott) DeTienne-Davenport of Deltona, FL, Wanda (Doug) Pince of Marshfield, WI, Douglas DeTienne of Pleasant Prairie, WI, and LeAnn (Dean) Fischer of Marshfield, WI; grandchildren, Matthew DeTienne-Davenport, Mandi DeTienne-Davenport, Aaron Pince, Barry Pince, Lindsay DeTienne, Megan (Bob) Simmington, and Talisa Fischer; 9 great-grandchildren; siblings, Pat Roth of Burlington, IA, Linda Antcliff of Zion, and Herb (Shirley) DeTienne of Phoenix, AZ.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother; wife, Sally Su DeTienne; and a daughter-in-law, Donna DeTienne.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, August 29, 2019 from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Trinity Christian Center, 2600 Lewis Ave, Zion. The funeral service will begin at 12:00 p.m. with Pastor Tim Eddy, officiating. Entombment will follow at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion. In lieu of flowers donations to Trinity Christian Center Benevolent Fund would be appreciated.
