Violet Mavis Snodie, age 83, died on April 17, 2017 in Waukegan, IL.
Violet was born on March 15, 1934 to Aileen and Niilo Uusimaki in Winola, MI. She married James Andrew Snodie Sr. on May 7, 1956. She spent most of her life as a military wife and homemaker. She was an active school volunteer when her children attended school as well as participating in the electoral process of being an election judge. In her later years, she volunteered her time with the Catholic Charities at the Waukegan Park Place Senior Center, where she had received several letters of appreciation for her hard work and dedication to her fellow seniors and coworkers. She was also a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Waukegan.
She is survived be her children, James A. Snodie of Waukegan, IL, Rose E. Busch of Waukegan, IL, Susan Snodie of Racine, WI, Joseph (Linda) Snodie of Beach Park, IL, Lori (Herman) Mueller of Waukegan, IL, Theodore L. Snodie of Beach Park, IL, Nancy Snodie of Beach Park, IL and Andrew Snodie of Beach Park, IL; Twelve grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by one son, Robert Snodie; and her husband of sixty years, James A. Snodie Sr.
Graveside committal services will be held on Friday, April 28, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Pine View Memorial Park, Beach Park, IL. A memorial service will follow at 11:30 a.m. at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 2720 N. McAree Road, Waukegan, IL.
