Agnes Mary "Aggie" Grider, age 84, of Winthrop Harbor, IL, died on Monday, February 20, 2012, at her residence surrounded by family members.
Aggie was born April 28, 1927, in Waukegan, IL, and was educated in Waukegan schools. She has lived in Winthrop Harbor for the last 64 years. Her work background includes employment at Snow White Laundry in Waukegan and National Press in North Chicago. Aggie was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Winthrop Harbor for 27 years, where she enjoyed the choir, teaching children's classes, and singing at local nursing homes. Her hobbies were crafts, bowling and canning.
Survivors include her four sons, Walter Lee Grider of Monroe, N.C., Frank Douglas Grider of Winthrop Harbor, IL, John Loren Grider of Round Lake Beach, IL, and Allen Ray Grider of Winthrop Harbor, IL; three daughters, Miriam Irene Kandziorski of Lake Zurich, IL, Betty Ann Barlow of Bridgeport, IL, and Mary Jane (Larry ) Sorensen of Pleasant Prairie, WI; 25 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren (with one on the way); and four sisters, Irene Wilson of Gurnee, IL, Bea Hanes of Waukegan, IL, Mary Ann Richardson of Waukegan, IL, and Shirley Zupancic of Kenosha, WI.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband Walter Lee Grider in 1984;three brothers and two sisters and her mother and father, Anna and Frank Brnot,
A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, February 25, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion, IL, with Dr. Michael Brown of the First Baptist Church of Winthrop Harbor, officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion. Visitation will be Friday, February 24, 2012, from 6:00-9:00 p.m, at the funeral home. Memorial donations are suggested to the Alzheimer's Association .
