Agnes Wates

Agnes V. Wates, 89, of Beach Park, IL, passed away October 28, 2023.

Agnes was born June 25, 1934 in Alabama.  She married Hurshell Wates in December of 1949 in Kenosha, Wisconsin.  She was a member of First Baptist Church in Winthrop Harbor.  Agnes was a devoted housewife and later a loving caregiver to many grandchildren.  She enjoyed spending time in her yard and garden.  Some of her favorite things were quilting, baking and various church activities.  She loved being surrounded by friends and family the most.

She is survived by her children, Steven Wates, Kevin Wates, and Leanna Domalik; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother, Jerry Robison; sister, Janice Ferris.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Clara (Forester) Robison; father, Willis Robison; husband, Hurshell Wates; brother, Harold Robison; son, Randall Wates; and a grandson, Shane Colella.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, November 2, 2023 from 10:30 until 12:00 noon at the Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion.  A funeral service will follow at 12:00 noon at the funeral home with Pastor Corwin Wong, officiating.  Interment will follow at Pineview Memorial Park, Zion, IL.
