Aimee Lacombe Twadell,85, of Gurnee, IL, died on Sunday, November 4, 2007, at home. Aimee was born February 27, 1922, in New York, N.Y. She was an accomplished tennis player in her youth and her name was mentioned often in newspaper sports pages on Long Island where she grew up. Aimee was retired from the Lake County Treasurer's Office in Waukegan, and from the Bethel Lutheran Church in Gurnee where she had been employed as an office worker. She was a loving and adoring mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Survivors include sons, Mark (Marcia) Twadell of Beach Park, IL, and David (Lisa) Twadell of Gurnee, IL; grandchildren, Dr. Eric (Anne) Twadell, Brian (Kelly) Twadell, Megan Twadell, Alex and Sara Twadell, and Kim (David) Kuhlman; nine great- grandchildren; sister, Florence Morner of New York, N.Y.; niece, Aimee (Zoltan) Merszei of Greenwich CT, nephew, Frederick Morner, of Oakland, CA; daughters-in- law, Dr. Ann Solari-Twadell of Park Ridge, IL, and Carol Breyer of Gurnee, IL, and many, many, friends. She was preceded in death by her beloved son, Stephen Lacombe Twadell. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, November 7, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at the Bethel Lutheran Church, 5110 Grand Ave, Gurnee, with Rev. Lee Clark, officiating. Entombment will be private at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion, IL. Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 6, 2007, from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion and again on Wednesday, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the American Cancer Society, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Suite 1210, Chicago, IL 60601 are suggested.
