Albert Ricks of Waukegan, Illinois passed away July 5, 2024 surrounded by family. Albert was born June 19, 1937 in West Chester, Pennsylvania.

Albert married Marianne on May 16, 1980, in Waukegan, IL. He served 20 years with the United States Navy retiring as Master-at-Arms Chief Petty Officer. Albert served on the USS Hancock, USS Passumpsic, USS Fremont, USS Chilton, USS Krishna and USS Taconic. While in the military and after he earned his bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. After his military service Albert held various positions in the area including, Corrections Officer at the Lake County Jail, Community Service Officer with the Waukegan Police Department and Sergeant Training Officer prior to being promoted to Lieutenant in the Lake County Deputy Reserves. He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, the American Legion post 281 and past commander, Federal Order of Police Lodge 46, 66 and 275, Elks Club 702 past Exalted Ruler, member of the Illinois Police Association and past Chef de Gare at 40 et 8 organization. He also was a driver for Lambs farm. In his spare time, he enjoyed soccer, fishing, reading and crossword puzzles.

Albert is survived by his grandchildren, Christy (Bill) Stark, Bruce Rebello Jr, Marianne (Tony) Ambrose, Britney Rebello, Anthony Ferro and Alex Ferro; great grandchildren, Austin, Alycia, Alexis, Ashton, Anthony Jr, Kai and Adeline. He was a father figure to many including God children, family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Marianne; children, Kathy Rebello, Laura Ferro and Kimberly Ferro and grandson, Josh Tate.

Visitation will take place Saturday, July 13, 2024, at St Paul’s Lutheran Church in Waukegan, IL from 9:30 to 11:00 am, funeral service beginning at 11:00 am. Interment to follow at Warren Cemetery in Gurnee, IL with military honors.
