Anita Sue Oliver, nee Holt, 64, of Waukegan, IL passed away unexpectedly on August 4th, 2023.  She was born on July 24th, 1959 in Kenosha, WI.  She was a member of Zion-Benton Township High School class of 1977 and College of Lake County class of 1995.  She was employed as a secretary at the College of Lake County and later as a silk screener at Plasco, Inc.

Anita loved to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandson.  She taught them to play rummy and enjoyed playing nearly every time they were together.  She enjoyed big family holidays with her extended family as well.  Anita loved to cook and delighted in cooking (read arguing) with her mother and son-in-law.  She always had a great recipe from Food Network that she wanted to try.  She was proficient in crocheting, a skill she learned as a teenager from her Aunt Jennie.  She loved making handmade items, especially baby blankets for her family and friends.  Anita also adored teddy bears and collected dozens throughout her life.  Every year, she and her daughter, Julie, would make a special trip to the toy department just so she could hug all the Christmas bears!  She was also a die-hard Chicago Bears fan!

She is survived by two daughters, Andrea (Arthur) Holt-Batalia and Julie Oliver, three grandchildren, Tyler (Michelle), Brayleigh, and Henry Holt-Batalia, one great-grandson, Brandon Holt-Batalia, three sisters, Theresa Weger, Pamela (Charles) Luplow, and Angela Ohm, one step-brother, Don Henry, half-sister, Regina Holt, half-brother, Eugene Holt Jr., six aunts, Phoebe (Ray) Moses, Ethel Townsend, Kathie Schweikart, Jacqueline Harper, Loretta Miller, and Mary Engle, ex-husband, David Oliver Sr., 4 nieces, 5 nephews, 2 great-nieces, 4 great-nephews, and countless step-nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ilene and Jim Henry, biological father, Eugene Holt, grandmother and step-grandfather, Lamberta and Tony Domingo, grandfather, Lon Gillman, grandparents, Mary Nidiffer and George Holt, step-grandparents, Mildred and Lloyd Henry, half-sister, Nicole Holt, nine uncles and two aunts, Wayne Townsend, Lon (Joyce) Gillman Jr., Virginia Owens, John Owens, John Schweikart III, Bill Holt, Kenneth Venters Jr., Kendall Venters, Donnie Venters, and Ova Venters, step-sister-in-law, Carol Henry, and her beloved dogs, Jody and Buffy.

Visitation will take place on Monday, August 21st, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion.  A funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.  Cremation will take place following the funeral.  Interment will be handled privately at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park in Zion, Illinois.
