Anja Elina Ylitalo, 70, of Gurnee, IL died on Thursday, December 20, 2012 at Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, IL.
She was born February 25, 1942 in Kuopio, Finland and moved to Illinois at the age of 16. She married Jack Ylitalo of Chatham, MI and Waukegan, IL in Chatham on October 18, 1968. She was a member of St. Mark's Evangelical Church of Waukegan. She was an avid baker, gardener, and flower arranger and she enjoyed crocheting and sewing.
Survivors include her husband of 44 years, Jack; one daughter Elisa (Todd) Thompson of Lenexa, KS; one grandson Dylan Thompson; her mother Taimi Keinanen of Grayslake, IL; three sisters Eija Tudtud of Gurnee, IL, Eila Kuusoja of Finland and Elisa Tuovinen of Finland; and one brother Eero Tuovinen of Finland.
She was preceded in death by her father, Mikko Tuovinen.
Visitation will be Wednesday, December 26, 2012, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon at St. Mark's Evangelical Church, 3350 Delany Road, Waukegan, IL, followed by a funeral service which will begin at 12:00 noon, Pastor Jeffrey Koth officiating. Burial will take place in the Spring in Chatham, MI. Memorial donations to St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church have been suggested.
