Anna Mae Dorion (nee Johnson), 78, of Waukegan, Illinois, passed away on Tuesday April 12, 2016 surrounded by family and friends.
Ann was born February 8th, 1938 to Norman Wm. and Lucy Johnson in Ironwood, Michigan. Ann was married to Emmett Dorion for 25 years. Ann worked at the Terrace Nursing Home as a Food Service Manager, for 37 years before retiring in 2012. Ann was well known for her potato salad, pasties, Banana Split Flip, and Christmas cookies. She made cookies with the children of many employees at the nursing home during the Christmas season. Her collection of placemats was unbelievable, she had many for all seasons. Ann loved seeing deer and watching the Chicago Bears, even though she cursed at the TV when they weren’t winning. Halloween was her favorite holiday, and any day that included fireworks was her next favorite. Her most valued memories were being with her family. She picked up her grandkids from school every time they were sick or had to go home early, rollers in her hair and all. She taught every one of her grandkids how to ride a bike. She supported everyone, wanting the people around her to be happy. She enjoyed visiting casinos with friends and family.
She was an amazing mother to Sandra (James III) Hollingshead of Beach Park, IL, and Lisa (Robert) Kocanda of Zion, IL. She was also a loving grandmother to James IV, Jeffrey, Gregory, and Amy Jo Hollingshead, all of whom she is survived by, along with countless family and friends.
Ann was preceded in death by her husband Emmett, parents Norman Wm. and Lucy Johnson and brother Norman Johnson.
