Anton Goracio, 86, of Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin and formerly of Waukegan, Illinois, died on Friday, November 23, 2007 at Aurora Medical Center in Pleasant Prairie.
He was born April 7, 1921 in Chicago and had lived in Arlington Heights and Palatine, Illinois before moving to Waukegan in his early 20's after being honorably discharged from the Army. While in the Army, he served 4 years during World War II, having served in Africa, Iran and Iraq. For most of his life he drove truck for various companies and for ten years before retiring in 1995 he drove cab for North Chicago Cab Company.
Survivors include his four children Tony (Maria Mombille) Goracio, Joy Vaughn, Gary Goracio and David Goracio; twelve grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife Margaret; his father and mother Philip and Mary Goracio; and three brothers and two sisters.
Visitation will be Tuesday, November 27, 2007 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. at the Congdon Funeral Home with Bishop Robert Ogle of Woodstock Church of Jesus Christ of Later Day Saints officiating. Interment services will be Wednesday, November 28th, at 10:00 a.m. at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the family has been suggested.
