Antoon "Tony" de Bruyn

1947 — December 3, 2019

Antoon "Tony" de Bruyn entered into eternal life in heaven on December 3, 2019 at Aurora St Luke's Medical Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

He was born November 21, 1947 in Amsterdam, Netherlands to Johan and Sustina de Bruyn. He, his parents, and his sister Johanna moved to the United States when he was 13 years old in December of 1960.  He married Sandra Jean Svendsen on April 9, 1966 at Christian Catholic Church in Zion, Illinois. Tony was in the United States Army and served in the Vietnam War from 1968-1969. He worked for Abbott Laboratories as a laboratory technician and retired after 31 years. He was a long-time active member of Christ Community Church where he did many things including teaching Sunday school and singing in the choir. He was a member of the American Legion Post 865. He enjoyed travelling, camping, working on his cars, being outdoors and spending time with his family. He was a proud father and an even prouder Opa to his grandchildren. He was a wonderfully kind, generous, caring, and selfless man who will be greatly missed.

Tony was preceeded in death by his parents, Johan and Sustina de Bruyn.

He is survived by his loving wife Sandra of 53 years, his son Erick de Bruyn, his daughter Jordanna (Brett) Metzger, his sister Johanna Wilemon, his grandchildren Roman Metzger, Adelynn Swan and Brienne Swan, and was a special uncle to many nieces and nephews. Especially close to Tony were his nieces Brenda Hansen, Megan Mitchell, and Amanda Torres. His loss will create a large void in our family.
