Arnold Vaino Aho, 95, of Kenosha, Wisconsin passed away on October 12, 2024.
Arnold was born April 25, 1929 in Negaunee, Michigan. His family then moved to Trenary, MI where he graduated from Trenary Michigan High School class of 1947. After high school Arnold moved to Chicago and began working in the U.S. Steel Chicago Sales Office, first as a mail clerk, then as a customer service representative. From 1951 to 1953, Arnold served in the U.S. Army Signal Corps in South Korea. Arnold married his wife Sirkka Anita Aho (née Aho) in 1955, living with his family in Chicago, and moving to Park Ridge, IL in 1961. After retiring from U.S. Steel in 1986, he and his wife built a home on the Petenwell Flowage near Nekoosa, WI. There he enjoyed sailing and golf. In 1995 they moved back to Gurnee, IL, and after Arnold's wife passed, he moved to Kenosha, WI. Arnold was a man of faith and an active member of St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Waukegan, IL. He was also involved with several other organizations: Finnish-American Society - Midwest (FASM), Viking Ship Restoration Committee, and Sibelius Male Chorus.
Arnold is survived by his children, Karen Ann Aho (Victor Boyer), and Eric Aho; grandchildren, Oliver Lloyd Allen, and Aaron Gregory Boyer; and two great - grandchildren, Skye Allen, and Taylor Allen.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Sirkka Anita Aho; sisters, Laina Johnson, and Sylvia Wertanen; and brother, Toivo Aho.
Visitation will be held at St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 3350 North Delany Road, Waukegan, IL 60087, from 12 noon until 1:00 p.m. with a memorial service to after at 1:00 p.m.
