Audrey Herberger

Audrey Marie Herberger (nee O'Hare) passed away on Saturday, December 22, 2012, at Advocate Condell Medical Center, Libertyville, IL. Audrey was born August 10, 1938, in Waukegan, IL, and graduated from Waukegan High School in 1956, She married Jack Herberger on July 14, 1956, at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Waukegan. Audrey was a long time member of St. Mark's where she served on the Finance Committee, Budget Committee, Offering Counting Committee, Altar Guild, St. Mark's Senior Ladies Committee, Mailing Committee, the Pasty Team, and an Usher. She along with her husband Jack, retired in 1996 from the Lake County Courthouse where she was an Executive Secretary to the Lake County Board for 16 years. Audrey was Chairman of the Selective Service Board since 1998. They spent summers in Michigan in the Upper Peninsula in the small town of Amasa. Audrey was an avid bowler for over 40 years. She was inducted into the Waukegan Women's Bowling Association Hall of Fame in 1993. The same year she won the WWBA Singles Championship. Audrey received an award in 2007 in Charlotte. N.C. for bowling in 30 National Tournaments. She also received numerous awards from the WWBA while serving as President, Secretary and Treasurer which she held for 14 years. Audrey loved being around her children, and grandchildren. During her younger years she enjoyed sewing, (she was a wonderful cross stitcher and also did hook rugs) playing bingo, and spending time at casinos playing video poker. Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Jack; children, Steven (Debra) Herberger, Terrance (Louise) Herberger, and daughter, Jodi (Donald) Reese; grandchildren, Daniel (Erica) Reese, Cory Reese, Thorin G. Herberger. Elaine Herberger and twins Terra and Margaret Herberger; great-grandchild, Bentley Reese; and sister, Lucille (Robert) Creason. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harvey James and Tyyne Marie O'Hare; brother, Donald O'Hare; sister, Lorraine Worth; and 6 aunts and 6 uncles. Visitation will be on Friday, December 28, 2012, from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion, IL, and again on Saturday from 9:30 a.m with a funeral at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, 3350 North Delany Rd., Waukegan, IL. Entombment will follow at Highland Memorial Park, Libertyville, IL. Memorial donations are suggested to St. Mark's Lutheran Church.
