Barbara Gonzalez

Barbara (Poore) Gonzalez, 71, of Zion Illinois, passed away on Thursday, January 6 th , 2022, at Vista Medical Center in Waukegan Illinois. Barbara was born in Waukegan, Illinois to Clyde and Betty (Mitchell) Poore on December 26 th , 1950. She was raised in Winthrop Harbor, Illinois and graduated from Zion Benton Township High School in 1969. She went on to Cosmetology School, opening her own beauty shop, the Noggin Nook, in 1974. Barb was passionate about her beauty shop and her customers, having been in business for over 40 years. She enjoyed gardening and was well known for her green thumb. She loved spending time with her family and friends, attending her grandchildren’s concerts and sporting events as well as going for long drives. Her greatest joy in life was being “Grandma Barb”. Her outgoing personality, humor and laugh will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Barb is survived by her daughter Trisha Carter of Gurnee, IL; stepdaughters, Tracy Albrecht of Lake Geneva, WI and Tina Carter of McHenry, IL; grandchildren Justin Albrecht, Chase Albrecht and Dennis Turcan and her great granddaughter Cyndle Albrecht. Barb was proceeded in death by her parents, husband James Gonzalez, sister Diane Angelopulos and brother Randy Poore. A Memorial Visitation will be held on Friday, January 14,2022 from 4:00PM-7:00PM at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion, IL 60099.
