Barbara Pounders

Barbara Pounders, 79 of Zion, Illinois, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, February 26, 2025 at Vista Medical Center in Waukegan. Barbara was born in Itawamba County in Mississippi and moved to Zion after High School. She worked at OMC and finished her career at Abbott Laboratories in Diagnostics and was a member of the Zion-Benton Moose Lodge. 

Barbara is proceeded in death by husband: Claude Pounders, brother Thomas (Vic) Jackson, Jackie Jackson, and her parents Clyde and Blondie Jackson. Barabara is survived by her sister: Helen Wilson and two sons Scott (Karisa) and Jon; grandchildren: Kiley and Ella Pounders, Ethan and Logan McDermott.

Visitation will be held at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion, IL Saturday, March 8th from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. with the funeral service beginning at 12:00 pm. Interment to follow at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion, IL. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
