Beatrice Bakken

Beatrice Bakken, 82, of Zion, IL passed away on Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at Aurora Medical Center, Kenosha, WI. Bea was born March 1, 1930 in Harwood, ND and moved to Zion in 1955. She was a longtime member and faithful servant of Beach Bible Church, Zion, where she taught Sunday School, worked with AWANA, and worked in the kitchen among many other activities. Always proud of her Norwegian heritage, she was blessed to visit Norway twice. Survivors include children David (Kathy) Bakken of Kenosha, WI, Joan (Ken) Boyce of Beach Park, IL, Keith (Laurie) Bakken of Park Ridge, IL, and Bruce (Carolyn) Bakken of Kenosha, WI; thirteen grandchildren Sarah (Nathan), Rian (Bill), Justin (Stefanie), Chad, Tyler, Desiree, Julia, Tommy, Alison (Josh), Ashley M. (Kurt), Ashley N., Brandon, and Brittany; ten great-grandchildren Cole, Elle Bea, Jayden, Brooklyn, Elliotte, Lucy, Easton, Logan, Landon, and Cash; and two sisters Eleanor (Leslie) Schneider of Beach Park, IL and Esther (Donald) Tang of Moorehead, MN. She was preceded in death by her husband Gerald "Bud" in 2010; son Thomas in 1956; two sisters Mildred Olson and Harriet Olson; one brother Milo Haugen; and parents Kristian and Bertha Haugen. Visitation will be Sunday, October 14, 2012, from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion. Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 15th, at 11:00 a.m. at Beach Bible Church, 3520 - 21st, St, Zion, IL, with Pastor James Wychers officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion. Memorial donations to Liv Life Foundation, 11098 Lemon Grass Ln., Roscoe, IL 61073 (www.livlife.us.) have been suggested.
