Bernadette Mack, age 78 lifted herself up to her savior after a brave short fight with pancreatic cancer. She let go peacefully in her home on July 27, 2024, surrounded by loved ones.
Bernadette "Bunny" was born in Oak Park IL, on August 14, 1945 to Benedetto and Frances Spizzirri who both precede her in death.
Bunny is survived by the love of her live whom she married on June 4, 1966, Stephan Mack, also from Northlake, IL . They started their journey together living in Bolingbrook IL, then settled in Naperville IL for many years and moved to the home that they love in Winthrop Harbor IL, where they have resided for over 30 years. Their love leaves a legacy of 3 surviving children, Stephan Mack Jr. (Sandy), Michael Mack (Irma), Kimberly Goodwin (Jason); and 7 grandchildren, Angelina Mack, Anthony Mack, Gianni Mack, Krisala Mack, Joseph Mack, Jesse Goodwin and Jake Goodwin. Bunny is also survived by her brothers, Salvator Spizzirri, Gary Spizzirri, Benedetto “Benji” (Janica) Spizzirri Jr., and Steven (Jody) Spizzirri; Bunny also grew up with an extended family leaving behind many surviving cousins, nieces and nephews.
Bunny grew up in Northlake IL, and graduated from Leyden High School in Northlake, IL in 1963, pursuing higher education Bunny became certified in secretarial work and in Dental Hygiene. After a few years of secretarial work Bunny pursued her career of 30 plus years in the dental industry specializing in Orthodontics. Her dedication, leadership and technical lab skill talent within the Orthodontic industry made her highly successful within the industry. After Bunny’s successful career as an Orthodontic Dental Assistant and Lab Technician, her retirement allowed her to pursue her passions and hobbies which included, spending time with her friends and family, gardening and bird watching, collecting Indian artifacts and anything to do with animals. Later in life Bunny discovered her extraordinary talent for painting beautiful landscape paintings. These paintings decorate her home and will be passed on for generations. Bunny possessed an ever-growing heart that overflowed with love for family, friends and her pets. Bunny was the light in the dark, a gentle touch, a warm smile and full of laughter. She demonstrated bravery and challenged her disease until the end. Bunny left on her terms when she felt it was her time and her family was ready. Her physical body has left us, but her spark will remain in all who knew her. She will truly be missed.
Thank you friends and family for your support and special thanks; to the amazing Hospice team who made Bunny's journey as smooth as possible and were there for her every step of the way. Carmina, Wendy, Kathleen and Chaplin Mike , you will forever be in our hearts.
To honor Bunny’s faith and devotion a private family memorial service will be held followed by a celebration of life at their home, at a date to be determined.
