Bernard John Ison, 68, of Kenosha, WI, and formerly of Iron River, MI, died on Wednesday, February 4, 2015, at the Captain James A. Lovell Federal Health Care Center, North Chicago, IL.
Bernard was born May 3, 1946, in Ontonagon, MI. He retired from the United States Navy as a Chief Petty Officer and then worked as a Food Service Manager at the Great Lakes Naval Base. Bernard had a very strong Christian faith. He liked to collect stamps and coins and enjoyed his computer. Bernard was a loving father and grandfather.
Survivors include his wife, Ana Ison of Waukegan, IL; daughters, Janet Zugehoer of Zion, IL, and Nicole Ison of Waukegan, IL; grandchildren, Zakary Zugehoer, Marco Santos, and Anthony Santos; sister, Yvonne (Bill) Artwich of Iron River, MI; nephew, Billy Artwich; special friend, Yasue Roberts; and loving dog, Teddy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Audrey Ison; and step-father, Willie Beckman.
Visitation will be Sunday, February 8, 2015, from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion, IL. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, February 9, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Entombment with military honors will follow at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion, IL.
