Betty Jean Jackson,75, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on February 23, 2025, in Waukegan, Illinois, surrounded by her family. Born on December 6, 1949, in Galloway Tennessee the daughter of Ruebn Beasley and Lillie Belle (Peete) Hendon.
For many years, Betty dedicated herself to her career as a cook supervisor at Sheridan Healthcare Center. She cooked for her family and friends and was known for her exceptional tamales, coleslaw, and her famous potato salad. Her passion for crafting extended beyond the kitchen; she enjoyed sewing, knitting, and creating intricate macrame pieces, and watching netflix.
Betty leaves behind her cherished daughter, DeeArcy Jackson; along with her beloved grandchildren, Jazimeine Staton and La'Royce Tanner. Her legacy continues through her great-grandchildren, LeiLani and Ezekiel. Additionally, she is remembered by a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins; and close friend Mary.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ruben Beasley and Lillie Hendson; as well as her siblings, Samuel R. Beasley Jr., Ruffin Beasley, Cornell Beasley, Loachell Bankston, Willie Beasley, Leonard Beasley, Sallie Wesley, and Katie Parks.
A visitation for Betty will be held on February 28, 2025, from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM at Congdon & Co Funeral Directors in Zion, Illinois, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion, IL 60099 followed by a funeral service at 12:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested plants.
