Betty was a great mother and grandmother who loved children. Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Robert, whom she married on June 25, 1949 in Zion; children, Shirley (Jeff) Young of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and David (Shelley Hazel) Mortensen DMD of Wadsworth, Illinois; one sister, Katherine Ortwig of Exland, Wisconsin; and she was proudest of her six grandchildren, Eric (Skye) Mortensen, Tim (Jenny) Mortensen, Amanda (Quintin) Nadig, Tom (Jessica) Young, Darcie Young, and the late Cale Mortensen Kastanek. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Ward and Gertrude Minors; and by four brothers and three sisters. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, December 15, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. at Immanuel Church, 2300 Dilley's Road, Gurnee, Illinois, with Rev. Don Tremper officiating.
