Beverly Gyger

1956 — July 8, 2013

Beverly H. Gyger (nee Nissen), 57, of Winthrop Harbor, IL died on Monday July 8, 2013 at home after a courageous battle with a long illness. She was born February 10, 1956 in Waukegan and has been a resident of Winthrop Harbor most of her life. She graduated from Zion-Benton Township High School, Class of 1974. Beverly was a member of Our Lady of Humility Church of Beach Park. She was employed at the Recorder of Deeds office at the Lake County Courthouse for 18 years. She was also a member of Women of the Moose at the Zion-Benton Moose Lodge. Beverly enjoyed thrift shopping and was a "crafty" individual making baskets and flower arrangements and holiday items. She was always very giving and even throughout her illness she always worried about others before herself. She dedicated her life to raising her four boys and spending quality time with her grandchildren and friends. Survivors include her four sons Jeff (Julie) Gyger of Pleasant Prairie, WI, Ryan Gyger of Winthrop Harbor, IL, Andrew Gyger of Kenosha, WI, and Kenneth Gyger of Winthrop Harbor, IL; four grandchildren Elizabeth, Jenna, Julia, and A.J. Gyger; siblings Sharon (Richard) Roy, Case Martin, and Ronnie (Donna) Nissen all of Winthrop Harbor, IL; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; and a very special thanks to her two dear friends Wendi Barnes and Alice Morgan. She was preceded in death by her parents Frank and Pauline Nissen; and siblings Betty Lynn, Clara Smith, and Darv Nissen. Visitation will be Friday, July 12, 2013, from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion, IL. Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, July 13, 2013, at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Humility Church, 10655 W Wadsworth Road, Beach Park, IL. Entombment will follow at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion, IL. Memorial donations to a charity of choice in memory has been suggested.
