Beverly J. Johnson (nee Ritta), 77, of Zion, IL, died on Tuesday, January 6, 2009, in Zion. Beverly was born on July 8, 1931, in Waukegan, IL, and attended Christ Community Church in Zion. She met her late husband, Charles Johnson, while working at Johnson Motors in Waukegan and they were wed in 1964. Beverly was a former volunteer for Victory Memorial Hospital. She loved camping in the outdoors, and enjoyed traveling, cooking, and crocheting.
Beverly is survived by her children, Terry (Janice) Johnson of Zion, James (Marsha) Johnson of Zion, Thomas Johnson of Zion, Randall (Debra) Johnson of Rochester, Ml, and Kimberly (Waymon) Vela of Wheatland, Wl; 13 grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; sister, Loverne Neish Nitzel of Phoenix, AZ; and numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles in May of 2007; brothers, Jack and Don Ritta; sister, Edith Cashmore; and her mother and father.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, January 9, 2009, at 5:00 p.m. at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion, with Pastor Jon Wiziarde of Christ Community Church of Zion officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Interment will be private for the family.
