Bill Henry, 70, of Zion, Illinois, died on Friday, March 26, 2010 at Rolling Hills Manor Nursing Home in Zion.
Bill was born September 10, 1939 in Paducah, Kentucky and came to Zion in 1955 from Jackson, Michigan. He was a member of MeadowRidge Baptist Church of Zion. Bill worked for Warwick Electronics in Zion for a number of years and retired in 1997 from Dexter Midland Corporation. After retiring, Bill worked as a Ranger at Shepherd's Crook Golf Course for the Zion Park District. He served with the United States Army from 1963 until 1965 followed by four years of active reserves. Bill was an avid bowler, golfer, fisherman and he enjoyed cooking and especially being grampa.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Jane; one daughter, Elizabeth Braun of Zion; one special nephew, Robert Free of Sanford, North Carolina; two grandchildren, Alexander Braun and Tessa Braun; one brother, Richard (Shirley) Henry of Zion; one sister, Barbara Camp of Kirksey, Kentucky; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Beatrice Free; and his parents, Arvin and Lucy Henry.
Visitation will be Monday, March 29, 2010, from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 30th, at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Dr. Rob Whitworth of MeadowRidge Baptist Church officiating. Entombment will follow at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion. Memorial donations to MeadowRidge Baptist Church Building Fund have been suggested.
