Billy Ramey

1943 — July 23, 2007

Billy Joe "Bill" Ramey Sr. went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, surrounded by his family and friends after a long, courageous battle with cancer on July 23, 2007 at Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, Illinois. He was born September 13, 1943 in Kirkville, Mississippi, to John Jefferson and Myrtle Lucille Ramey. Bill was a member of Victory Baptist Church in Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin, where he served as a Deacon, worked in the bus ministry, and helped in the children's Sunday school. His greatest desire was to teach others about Jesus and see them get saved. Bill made his home in Beach Park, Illinois and worked for 35 years at Ramey's Auto Sales in Zion, Illinois as a salesman, office manager, and for the last 19 of those years as a truck driver driving a semi-car hauler. Trucking was his true passion until he was forced to retire last year because of his illness. Bill leaves to cherish his memory his loving, devoted wife, Nancy (nee Menees) with whom he was united in marriage on July 2, 1966 in Libertyville. Beloved sons Billy Jr. (Tina) Ramey of Zion and John (Rhonda) Ramey of Beach Park; beloved daughters, Pamela (Bill) Young of Zion and Lindsey (Steve) Radakovich of Kenosha, Wisconsin; beloved grandchildren Tania, Kristen, Stacey, Amber, John Jr., Vincent and Kealy; brother Gene (Hilma) Ramey of Mantachie, Mississippi; sisters-in-laws Patty (Dennis) Barden of Zion and Julia Ramey of Antioch; brother-in-law Gerry (Linda) Menees of Fairfield, Connecticut; nephews Chris, Jeff, Craig, David and Eric; nieces Paula, DeLaine, Jennifer, Erin, Amy and Mollie; and his "Family" at Victory Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Myrtle Lucille; step-father Sylvester "Bud" Justice; brothers Clovis and Jimmy; sisters Sandra and Mary Glenda; and a nephew Jimmy Justice. Visitation will be Monday, July 30, 2007, from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 31st, at 10:30 a.m. at Victory Baptist Church, 3401 Springbrook Road, Kenosha, Wisconsin, Pastor Jerry Beaver officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion. Memorial donations to Victory Baptist Church have been suggested.
