Bob “Bobby” F. Jackson, 82, of Zion, IL, passed away on January 8, 2023. Bob was born in Vina, Alabama on April 8, 1940. Bob lived in Zion for over 75 years. Moving here when we was young from Red Bay, Alabama.
Bob was a meat cutter for National Tea Foods and Fairway Foods for over 20 years. After Bob left the food industry, he worked as a mechanist for Madden Machine and Profit Gear for nearly 20 years prior to retiring. Bob was able to enjoy 20 years of retirement with his lovely wife Natalie Wimer whom he married on June 27, 1959 at The Methodist Church in Zion.
Bob loved to camp and play golf. He went to work at Foss Park Golf Course to play on Sundays and pay for his hobby at other golf courses. Eddie Matya, a good friend of Bobs, said the two of them had played golf at 87 different courses. To say golf was Bob’s passion is an understatement.
Bob is survived by his wife Natalie Jackson; Children, Michael (Debbie) Jackson, Beverly (Steven) Slocum; Grandchildren, Taryn Reese, Christopher (Stephanie) Jackson, Steven (Cassie) Slocum, Ashley Slocum, and Candace Jackson; Great- Grandchildren, Tayden, Adleigh, Amaya, Leah, Rylynn, Elias, Ellie, Rowen, Jackson, Douglas, and Dallon; and many nieces and nephews.
Bob is preceded in death by his Son Robert; parents Collin and Mamie Jackson; Brothers Kenneth, Eugene, Richard, and Boyce; Sisters Audrey, Lurlie, and Mariam; and Brother-in-law Bruce Wimer.
Visitation will be held Saturday January 28, 2023 at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion IL, at 4pm. Followed by a funeral service at 7pm at Congdon Funeral Home.
