Bradley Jack Akins Sr. , 66, of Zion, IL, died on Tuesday, September 2, 2014, at Vista Medical Center East in Waukegan.
Bradley was born December 9, 1947, in Ft. Atkinson, WI. He was formerly employed as a machinist at Johnson Motors from 1968 to 1986. Brad was an avid fisherman who loved to be on the water.
Survivors include his children, Lisa (Michael Thorn) Akins of Waukegan, IL, Joshua C.G. (Sarah) Grubbs of Grayslake, IL, and Bradley (Stephanie) Akins Jr. of Jacksonville, IL, grandchildren, Heather (Harry) Alden, Christopher Thorn, Michael Thorn Jr., Nathan Akins, Christina Akins, Ashley Huddleston, Cory Akins, Cody Akins, Charles Grubbs, and Cheyenne Grubbs; many great-grandchildren; sisters Patricia (Chick) Johnston of Kenosha, WI, and Pamela Nottingham of Zion, IL; and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his father, Jack Akins, mother, Fern Akins (nee Johnson); and brothers, Dennis and Gary Akins.
Visitation will be Wednesday, September 10, 2014, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion, IL, with a Memorial Service at 7:00 p.m with Rev. Gary Waters of United Protestant Church of Grayslake, officiating. Memorial donations to the United Protestant Church of Grayslake are suggested.
