Brooklyn Kayelee Boyce, 9, of Beach Park, IL, received her crown of life on Monday, August 6, 2018, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on July 14, 2009 at Lake Forest Hospital. She attended Laremont School where she was loved so incredibly well by her teachers and the entire Laremont staff.
Brooklyn, or Beeba as her brother affectionately nicknamed her, was as feisty as she was sweet. She had a contagious laugh and could light up any room with her larger than life personality — a personality that was as big as her beautiful blonde hair. She loved to sing sweet medleys of her favorite songs, including Jesus Loves Me and Wheels on the Bus, and was happiest when she was surrounded by her family and friends, especially her sister, Ellie, who loved to make her laugh.
She navigated Sanfilippo Syndrome with strength, grace, and a smile as genuine as they come, all while impacting the lives of an entire community and beyond — a legacy that will last for an eternity. Her life also inspired the creation of Oasis, the special needs ministry at Immanuel Church, where she attended since birth.
Brooklyn is survived by her parents, Justin and Stefanie Boyce of Beach Park; her sister, Elliotte; her maternal grandparents, Duane Bolling (Grandpa) of Belvidere; Steve and Sherry Brandon (Papa and Nana) of Rockford; her maternal great-grandparents Walter and Joyce Pennow of Cherry Valley; her paternal grandparents, Ken and Joan Boyce (Bubba and Ama) of Beach Park; her aunt, Rian (Bill) Bogdala of Winthrop Harbor; her uncles Chad Boyce of Kenosha and Tyler Boyce of Zion.
She is also survived by many extended family members and a community of special friends whom love her dearly and are forever changed by her beautiful and courageous life.
She was preceded in death by her brother and best friend, Jayden Alexander T. Boyce, and several great-grandparents.
A visitation will take place on Saturday, August 25 from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. with a service taking place immediately after at 12:00 p.m. Both will be held at Immanuel Church, 2300 Dilleys Road, Gurnee, IL 60031.
